When I was single, I used to think that I could rest from all my personal development work when I found the one. After I got married, I could just relax and my life would flow with ease and joy in one, long magical song. I was in for a big surprise especially as an entrepreneur who had bigger dreams than just the picket fence lifestyle. With every advance of my career, I faced new challenges and opportunities to grow into my true self. The growth and challenges keep coming as I continue to set bigger goals and new facets of me are revealed.
Not everyone has big dreams, some just want the husband and kids and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, you cannot use personal development to get something (or someone) and then think you can just set it aside and ignore it the rest of your life. Your inner work isn’t like a book that you read only once and never open again. The mind, once opened to new ideas, will strive to grow and expand on them.
Just like in the movie, The Matrix, when you take the blue pill you can’t go back after you start on the journey. You may be satisfied for a while, but the seed of a higher purpose will constantly try to find more life through you. If you don’t keep growing, you will get bored, tired of the person you attracted and will eventually come to that “something is missing” feeling even when you think you have it all.
If you cringe at the idea that you have to do another workshop because you feel exhausted from self-examination, then you are not approaching it the right way. You are probably looking for that end point when all of your problems will be solved and come from a place of trying to fix something. The goal shouldn’t be about getting things or fixing yourself but to live in your natural state which is happy and abundant.
When you become more self-aware, you can consciously choose your experience and be the creative force in your life. When you see that you are creating your destiny, you stop being so attached to the little things, stop getting overwhelmed with setbacks or hold back in fear of change. Your relationship with your partner (or potential partner) will become richer and deeper and you grow together and your work will be fulfilling rather than a means to make money to pay the bills.
Anytime you feel like this process is work, then you are doing it wrong. It should be fun, inspiring and freeing. You must know that it takes a certain level of consciousness to even start on this road less travelled. You are further along than most people on the planet. Instead of hiding out and ashamed that you are taking a course or feel bad because you haven’t manifested the love or money you want yet, put your shoulders back in pride because you haven’t settled for a mediocre love, work or life.
You want more out of your life and your true self wants to come out and play. As you start to see your inner truth separate from the old limited programming, you become more powerful and are able to effortless dance with the law of manifestation. With each obstacle and achievement you learn and grow and become more you. Life never gets boring, the rewards are much richer and that is always a beautiful thing.
